‘Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness’these powerful words are uniquely and undeniably American. This American Dreams series features ordinary people with extraordinary stories of success and advice for making the most of your dreams. It reiterates the importance of shop local + share local, a part of our culture that makes Central Arkansas unique.

“Everyone is my peer, and everyone has to work together for the best end result – which is happy customers.”

I started my career in the automotive industry back in 1999 at Landers Ford. I was in sales for about a year until I became the Finance Manager in 2000. I moved over to North Point Ford in 2002, then ran the Crain Ford in Jacksonville as the General Manager from 2006 to 2015. I began at McLarty Auto Group in 2016 as the Executive Manager of McLarty Nissan in Little Rock. And, I’m very excited about my newest role as General Manager/Partner of Mark McLarty Ford-Lincoln in North Little Rock. I’m looking forward to this opportunity and the new challenges it brings. I’m constantly inspired by my interactions with employees and customers. It’s helped me create a culture within a store where everyone enjoys coming to work. That makes a big difference. It’s the best perk of my job! I really enjoy people. Every person in the dealership is an important piece to the store itself. Everyone is my peer, and everyone has to work together for the best end result – which is happy customers. The best piece of advice I’ve ever received was from my Grandfather – it was his secret to being successful. He said, “You have good days and bad days, but you always need to do a better job than the day before.” I believe that this applies not only to work, but in life, as well. And, at the end of the day, I ask myself three questions: Have I done my best? Have I made a difference in other’s lives? If I was gone tomorrow, who would miss me, and why? The most important parts of my life are my wife Kara, a wonderful family, truly great friends, and an incredible place to work. That’s what really keeps me living and giving, and makes Central Arkansas an even better place to live and work.
