Fashion Footprints: Fashion in Words and Pictures

Guest Blog by Laura Cartwright Hardy of ESSE Purse Museum

“Fashion Footprints: Fashion in Words and Pictures” promises to be a night of memories – new ones you’ll make and thoughts of the women who shaped the woman you are today. The third and final “Fashion Footprints” night – 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 14 at the Oxford American Arts Annex, 1300 Main St. in Little Rock, will add a touch of sachet to the series – tie a bow around it and tuck it away in the cedar chest of your mind.

In addition to compelling conversations, savory snacks and lovely libations from The Capital Hotel, you’ll enjoy the premiere of a mini-documentary on women and fashion (especially of the Southern variety) – a video starring you, if you did a “fashion confessional” at any of the previous events.

You’ll also have the opportunity to help create the Oxford American’s “Cocktale” dress pieced together from fashion memories hand-written on cocktail napkins.

Be prepared to laugh, and possibly shed a tear or two, as you share stories or the significance of a special item of clothing or jewelry that you’ve worn – perhaps Grandma’s pearls or Mom’s favorite party dress. Or come as you are. Just be sure you don’t miss the final installment.

New friendships are easily stitched together at these events, so don’t be afraid to come alone; few things bond women more easily than dishing about fashion. The Capital Hotel, Esse Purse Museum, Little Rock fashion designer Linda Rowe Thomas and Oxford American have fashioned solid friendships in bringing these special nights to fruition. You’re bound to leave with a new friend or a few, too.

The $35 tickets are available online at http://bit.ly/1afqhmH or at the door as long as they last.
