First Lady Susan Hutchinson Welcomes New Sculpture to the Governor’s Mansion

Arkansas First Lady Susan Hutchinson recently welcomed the newest addition to the Governor’s Mansion’s sculpture garden. Renowned Arkansas sculptor Robyn Horn designed and created the piece, “Sandi’s Millstone.” “We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase the amazing artistic talent of Arkansans like Robyn Horn and are thrilled to have a piece of her work in the Mansion sculpture garden,” says the first lady.

Horn, a native of Fort Smith, has received numerous awards and was designated an Arkansas Living Treasure by the Department of Arkansas Heritage in 2008. She is the founder and first president of the Collectors of Wood Art, an organization established in 1997 to cultivate more interest in wood art. This latest piece is from her Fractured Millstone Series and is made of redwood, carved with a chainsaw and dyed to help preserve it.

Sandi’s Millstone was purchased by the Governor’s Mansion Association, a nonprofit organization that designates funds for the renovation, improvement, furnishings and endowment of the Mansion.
