OPERA IN THE ROCK: Opera Rocks – A Divas in the Rock Gala

Opera In The Rock is thrilled to announce the return of their widely popular event “Divas in the Rock” on Saturday, February 27, 2021 – this time as a newly imagined gala concert and fundraiser for the opera company.

“Divas in the Rock” was originally presented at South on Main in 2017 to rave reviews, and “Divas in the Rock II: A Tribute to the Queen of Soul” continued this legacy in 2018 by celebrating the life and music of the legendary Aretha Franklin. In 2021, Opera In The Rock is formally elevating “Divas” to gala status by presenting an electric night celebrating blues rock n’ roll legend Janis Joplin and opera’s widespread artistic influence on an unexpected musical genre. Attendees can expect plenty of food and drink to make for a festive evening, alongside a silent auction along benefiting the organization.

“Divas” has always been a huge crowd pleaser for us,” according to OITR Board Chairman Joshua Ang Price. “We feel it’s time to really turn up the volume on this event by presenting a bold, one-of-a-kind gala!”
