Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas is looking for its next class of Big Role Models! Twenty-four high school juniors recently participated in the program’s first year and completed more than 20 years of education and volunteer service as mentors of the organization’s mission fulfillment work. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas provides children with life-changing one-on-one relationships – matching community leaders and Big Role Models with youth to improve confidence, educational success and overall well-being. At the culmination of the program, The Big Event honors these future civic leaders and their spirit of volunteerism.
Here’s what a couple of parents and a student have to say about the Big Role Model experience:
“Being a Big Role Model helped Jacob realize the importance of volunteering and bringing awareness to the fact that there are children who need that extra someone in their lives.
His favorite part of participating in the program was interacting with the kids. He loved just hanging out, playing video games, and just being a friend.” – Amy Davis, mother of Jacob

“Big Role Models was a great program for my twins to be involved in. It was an opportunity for them to serve, give back to our community and grow as young adults. I believe that they have a new appreciation for family/loved ones in realizing how important having a support system is to all of us.” – Stephanie Overton, mother of Molly & Meredith

“I loved learning about Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas. I now understand how fundraising and volunteering work together, and I understand why one-to-one mentoring is so important in a child’s life.” – Faith Carr, Big Role Model
