Cupcakes for Goodness Sake – Blue Cake Company

Calling all cupcake enthusiasts! Cupcakes for Goodness Sake is back and bigger than ever. Hosted by Carelink at Bespoke Video Production on Sunday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. Cupcakes for Goodness Sake showcases amateur and professional bakers alike in a friendly competition. This year’s baking challenge: to create a delicious and unique cupcake inspired by everyone’s favorite Sunday tradition: brunch!  Cupcakes for Goodness Sake raises funds + friends for CareLink and brings awareness to the critical needs of older people in the Central Arkansas community.

In anticipation of this fun-filled event, we’re sharing each baker’s unique expertise + talent.

Katie Proffer is the General Manager at Blue Cake Company, where beautiful customized cakes and cookies are the specialty! See what Katie is most looking forward to in this year’s competition!

Inviting Arkansas: What is your signature baking style?
Katie Proffer:
Everything I bake includes a lot of butter! I don’t use shortening or lots of powdered sugar. I prefer a richer flavor rather than overly sweet.

IA: What is your favorite cupcake flavor?
KP:
My favorite flavor, by far, is coconut cream. I’m a sucker for coconut!

IA: Have you ever had a kitchen fiasco?
KP:
Yes! Once my baking assistance mixed up baking soda and cornstarch. We had an entire oven of chocolate cake seeping out like hot lava. It was awful!

IA: What keeps you living + giving in Central Arkansas?
KP:
I’ve always lived in Central Arkansas. My love for giving back to this community started in elementary school. Our class volunteered to read to individuals in nursing homes. That really touched me. I’ve never been without so it’s important to me to help those who are in need.

IA: Why did you choose to be a participant in Cupcakes for Goodness Sake?
KP:
I’ve always liked to give back so I try to incorporate that in to my job as well. We are excited to be a part of such a fun competition and to help support programs like Meals on Wheels.

IA: What’s the anticipated highlight of the event for you?
KP:
I love how interactive Cupcakes for Goodness Sake is! I had a blast last year getting to talk with so many people from the community and seeing the creative cupcakes the other bakers made. I’m looking forward to participating again.
