Tiny Hands Monster Bash
UAMS Family Home
Ashley Anderson was in her 23rd week of pregnancy and things didn't seem quite right. She began to lose her amniotic fluid and her baby stopped growing. As the grandmother to be, Judy Adams began calling friends and associates familiar with Dr. Wendell, the high risk pregnancy ob/gyn at UAMS to find answers and help. After an initial ultra sound, Ashley was put on bed rest and her son; Noah arrived 5 weeks earlier than planned. During Noah's 6-week stay in the NICU (Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit) at UAMS Ashley was able to see first hand how the UAMS Family Home is a true blessing for so many new parents. "I was fortunate to reside in Little Rock when Noah was born as I could come and go for feedings and visitation with ease, says Ashley. However, a lot of new moms were from out-of-town and had it not been for the UAMS Family Home, they wouldn't have been afforded the opportunity to be with their newborns during a very trying and emotional time." For just $5-$10 per night, parents of their newborns can stay in the Family Home and have the convenience and peace of mind knowing their child is right across the street.
Through the Junior League of Little Rock's Nightingales placement, Ashley had visited the home and engaged in bingo games and fellowship with both patients and their families. She realized what a special home away from home this wonderful place is and vowed to become more involved.
Ashley along with her mother, Judy Adams, owner of Catering to You will co-chair the Tiny Hands Monster Bash to take place on October 17th at Pavilion in the Park. A great evening is promised with heavy hors d' oeuvres and Monster libations aplenty as costumed clad (optional) guests take to the dance floor when The Rockets take the stage. A silent and live auction will highlight the evening with proceeds benefiting both the UAMS Family Home and the soon to be opened NICU at UAMS. Tickets to the event are only $50.00
The UAMS Neonatal Unit provides care for babies requiring intensive care.
One-third of the proceeds of this event will purchase equipment that directly benefits these babies.
