Blog Series: Dancing with Our Stars – Meet Terry Masching

Each year, community leaders put on their dancing shoes in hopes of winning the title that is earned at the Dancing with Our Stars Gala. All this fun and friendly competition among participants benefits the Children’s Tumor Foundation and supports the Arkansas chapter’s research and mission: to end and find a cure for neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that disturbs cell growth in the nervous system, causing tumors to form on nerve tissue.
CTF also provides support for children and families affected by NF. A portion of the proceeds is donated for grants to send Arkansas teens to the International NF Summer Camp held at Camp Kostopulos (Camp K).

Leading up to the grand event, we’re putting each star in the spotlight and introducing them on our blog. They will compete for the dancing title and mirror ball trophy at the Sept. 7 gala, in addition to soliciting contributions + votes prior to the event.

Meet Terry Masching (partnered with Sydney Kneuven of Dance Dynamics & Untapped Company)

Though not a native Arkansan, Terry Masching has committed himself to helping Arkansas youth.

A Midwest native, Masching is now a financial advisor for and the principal owner of The Masching Financial Group in Little Rock, which has served the financial needs of its clients for over 30 years.

He has attended both Illinois State University and George Mason University, and is the father of three children, Mary, Liz and John.

Terry’s support tends to gravitate toward youth and adolescent focused causes, having served on numerous boards including Shepherds Ranch, Youth Home and the Centers for Youth and Families. “There are so many issues facing our youth today,” he says, “Quite often a gentle, loving hand can change a life forever.”

It has only been in the past few years that Terry has become aware of the Children’s Tumor Foundation and its mission to end NF. Dancing With Our Stars is one of the many fundraisers that Terry and his wife are a part of. “Karen and I have been blessed in so many ways, and we feel it is not only our responsibility but our privilege to give back to the community. We all have the opportunity to literally change the lives of so many people simply by getting involved and investing in the causes we care about – even if it means embarrassing myself on the dance floor!”
