Four years ago, Donna Terrell’s daughter died from colon cancer. She was first diagnosed when she was only 26. In Queah’s memory, Donna, a Fox 16 news anchor, created “Donna Terrell’s Yoga Warriors Fighting Colon Cancer” – a nonprofit that raises awareness of colon cancer (and other cancers) and support for survivors. This Saturday (Aug. 15), portions of proceeds from Mellow Mushroom’s dine-in, take-out or the bar receipts will be donated to Yoga Warriors.
The organization also promotes benefits of yoga for people with cancer and other chronic diseases. “My daughter started doing yoga during her first bout with cancer,” Donna says. “It helped relieve some of the stress from treatments.”
At a free yoga event held this past April, thousands of dollars were raised to buy liquid nutrition for cancer survivors going through treatment in Central Arkansas.
