Jazzlights in the Park offers top quality family entertainment in the form of jazz-style musical acts and more. Taking place Saturday, May 16, on the west lawn of the Clinton Presidential Center, this year’s event includes a European-style craft beer garden, the “Big Tamale” National Tamale Cook-Off and a food truck park.
“Jazzlights in the Park offers a little something for everyone,” says Sarah Riffle, director of development for the Boys & Girls Club of Central Arkansas. “Great music, great food, great beer and great FUN for the whole family, all benefiting a great cause!” The mission of this endeavor is the development of community outreach in support of the Boys & Girls Club of Central Arkansas, which serves 10,000 youth each year.
This year’s line-up is headed by Grammy-nominated jazz and R&B artist Jonathan Butler, who has maintained a loyal following in the U.S. since the 1980s.
Other featured artists include Arkansas-based Amasa Hines, a seven-piece band who describes themselves as a diverse range of soul, afro-beat, psychedelic, blues, dub and indie rock stylings. They were also voted as the best band in the state in 2012 by Arkansas Times readers. Additional artists include local legend Rodney Block and the Real Music Lovers, whose set at last year’s festival had the entire crowd on their feet. The lineup is finished out with Little Rock greats such as That Arkansas Weather, TP & the Feel, TwiceSax and the Ted Ludwig Trio.
