Save the date for Party at the Plaza, a community celebration to benefit Arkansas Hospice on Saturday, April 23, in North Little Rock. It’ll be fun for the family – including four-legged friends who can participate in The Paw-ty at the Plaza Dogtown Dog Costume Contest!
Registration for the Dogtown Dog Costume Contest will be the day of the event. To sign up, visit the registration table located near the Plaza Stage between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 23. $10 is the suggested donation to participate. Then, the contest will be held at 4 p.m. on the Plaza Mainstage. Winners will receive fantastic dog-related prizes – and barking rights. So, make plans now on how to dress up your pups!
Don’t miss the other Party on the Plaza attractions! It will be filled with music, food, art and family fun. The Argenta Plaza Mainstage will be the center of activity with concerts by American Idol winner and Arkansas native Kris Allen and Jason D. Williams. Other performers include The Rodney Block Collective, The Salty Dogs, The B-Flats and The Rocktown Sparks. Additional attractions include Artists on the Avenue, the Virtual Scavenger Challenge and kid-friendly activities as well as food + drink specials at participating restaurants.
Dogtown Costume Contest Chairman Allan Gates and his poodle Lucy who volunteer in the Arkansas Hospice Pet Therapy Program, which gives volunteers with certified therapy dogs the opportunity to visit patients in nursing homes and in Arkansas Hospice inpatient facilities. Not to be confused with service dogs, therapy dogs help patients simply by visiting them. These special dogs have an ability to connect with and bring joy to all kinds of people, even those who are normally unresponsive or disconnected from their environments.
