A Toast to Coastal Tides

A one-pot shrimp boil is the perfect excuse to gather friends and family, along with a variety of cool beverages, and celebrate the season – with a toast to the coastal tides. It’s as easy as it is delicious and welcomes an opportunity for fellowship and fun as springtime beckons al fresco dining.

Shrimp Boil Seasoning:
4 bay leaves
1 tbs black pepper
1 tbs salt
2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp whole cloves
1 tsp mustard seed
1 tbs allspice
1 tsp dry thyme leaves

Combine all ingredients. Will season 2-3 quarts of water, enough to cook 3-4 pounds of shrimp.

Shrimp Boil

½ lb of shrimp per person
2 half ears of corn on the cob per person
3-4 new potatoes per person
3-4 whole artichokes to share
5 tbs shrimp boil seasoning
4 lemons, quartered
Old Bay seasoning to taste

Bring 3-4 quarts of water to boil and add shrimp boil seasoning. Squeeze lemons in boiling water and add rinds. Boil for 3 minutes. Add artichoke hearts, new potatoes and corn. Cook until tender. Add shrimp and boil for 2 minutes. Pour ice over pot to stop cooking process and marinate for 15 minutes. Strain shrimp and veggies. Serve with Old Bay seasoning, Tabasco and plenty of napkins.
