Mission matters at BKD. It’s a company comprised of more than just accounting services and expert advisors. With 40 offices across 18 states, the BKD team has an alliance of national + global resources. “Our employees and partners dedicate a lot of personal time and resources giving back to the communities that have afforded our success. We are very proud to support some excellent organizations that truly make a difference in people’s lives,” explains BKD Managing Partner Ryan Underwood.

This vision is reflected in a remarkable company culture that promotes civic leadership. Susan Davenport feels fortunate to be a part of this success story. “Not only do I get to do what I love every day, but through volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House, I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone into philanthropy. I’ve realized supporting people in need makes this a better world for all of us.”

Established in 2000, the BKD Foundation has distributed more than $19 million in charitable gifts. The foundation is funded by its partners and employees with a purpose to enrich the communities where they work + live. This philosophy of employee engagement encourages fiduciary support, but also time and resources.  Susan was introduced to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas through a BKD recommendation in 2006 and notes, “Being part of an important mission like Ronald McDonald House inspires me to do more, give more and serve more.” Her commitment to the organization remains steadfast. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas Executive Director Janell Mason realizes visionary companies, like BKD, truly empower a team of civic influencers that create a brighter future. “Susan is a perfect example of how BKD inspires their employees to give back. Her selfless dedication, leadership and personal philanthropy have helped the strategic growth of our organization, and also inspired others at BKD to make a difference in their communities.”

Susan also serves as chair of the BKD Arkansas Foundation and recognizes the residual value of community investment. “It’s a joy to be able to support so many well-deserving charitable organizations in Arkansas and to see the impact of the generosity of our company’s partners and employees.”
