Celebrate the season in style at Splash, the Ballet Arkansas 2nd Annual Winter Wine Taste – live music, wine, hors d’oeuvres, and a dance performance by the professional dancers at Ballet Arkansas…what could be better?
Launched last winter, the wine taste was the most popular of the ballet’s Motion on Main event series, a performance series dedicated to bringing the best of wine, cuisine, and the arts together in downtown Little Rock. In celebration of the organization’s 40th Anniversary, the event has been renamed Splash, and has gained so much momentum that it has been moved to the ballroom at the Little Rock Marriott.
The wine selection for Winter Wine Tasting is curated and presented by Colonial Wines & Spirits. The four wines Colonial have selected (Anne Amie, Pinot Gris 2017, Alexander Valley Vineyards, Chardonnay 2016 Kermit Lynch, Cotes du Rhone 2016, Masi, Campofiorin 2014) represent a wide range of growing regions. “These two whites come from Oregon and California, respectively. For the beauty and art of the evening, we chose a red from France and one from Italy,” says Clark Trim, President of Colonial Wines & Spirits. The evening will also feature live accompaniment by musicians of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and cuisine compliments of executive chef David Utley and sous chef Evan Davis of the Marriott. “Better bring your dancin’ shoes” says Michael Fothergill, the troupe’s Executive and Artistic Director. “It’s going to be a night to remember!”, he adds.
Attendees will get a first look at the works of two up and coming choreographers, and a sneak peak of Fire & Rain, the next production in the Ballet Arkansas seasonal lineup. Fire & Rain features excerpts from Romeo & Juliet, Don Quixote, and a world premiere tribute to the music of James Taylor, and arrives just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend!
