Dancing with Our Stars: Meets the Stars – Tanya James

Photography by David Lewis

Each year, community leaders wear their dancing shoes for the coveted winning title that is earned at the Dancing with Our Stars Gala. All this fun and friendly competition benefits the Children’s Tumor Foundation and supports the Arkansas chapter’s research and mission: to end and find a cure for neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that disturbs cell growth in the nervous system, causing tumors to form on nerve tissue.

Children’s Tumor Foundation also provides support for children and families affected by NF. A portion of gala proceeds will support the Adult NF Clinic Pilot Program. We’re putting each star in the spotlight and introducing them on our blog. They will compete at the Thursday, September 7 gala, in addition to soliciting contributions + votes prior to the event.

James was named the 2017 Alumni of the Year for Junior League of Little Rock’s Nonprofit Board Institute, graduate of Leadership Greater Little Rock Class XXXIII, panelist for Little Rock Regional Chamber’s inaugural Women’s Cultivate Series, named a 2018 Women to Watch by Soiree Little Rock, 2020 Visionary by Inviting Arkansas, 2022 featured in Inviting Arkansas for her community investment to Central Arkansas, and in 2020 and 2021 named a Powerful Women in Banking by Arkansas Money and Politics.

Professionally, Tanya is a banker employed with Arvest Bank with over twenty years of experience in leadership, strategy, retail sales, business development, client relations, change management, mortgage, and consumer lending. She currently serves as Senior Vice President, Program Director of Talent Management. Depending on the circumstance, Tanya proudly exhorts she is intentional in meeting the needs of clients, bank associates, and the community either as a laudable leader or a faithful follower.
