Why UA Little Rock?

“I was a first generation college student and I didn’t really want to go far away from home.  UA Little Rock was close to home, and it offered me a scholarship. Attending UA Little Rock was the best decision I could have made. I didn’t know what to expect upon arriving at college, but UA Little Rock opened my eyes to possibilities. I became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; I served in the Student Government Association as a senator for my college; and I was selected as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar where I was immersed in intensive research studies that took me across the country presenting my original work. At UA Little Rock, I didn’t just get A college experience; I got THE college experience!

UA Little Rock has a special place in my personal life.  UA Little Rock made good on promises of a great education and offered me opportunities from which I still benefit today. I was fortunate to have a support system in many faculty and staff who saw things in me that I didn’t know I possessed. I was pushed to be my best and then to go beyond that.  Now, as a life member and president of the Alumni Board of Directors, I’m able to be a support for other students.”

Affordable and relevant, a great metropolitan university is critical to the infrastructure of a vibrant city. It also requires a strong alumni association that’s engaged in civic and business leadership throughout the Capital City. UA Little Rock boasts both – with a shared vision for the future. As UA Little Rock celebrates the success of its alumni, the university and alumni reflect on the role the institution plays in the continued economic development of Central Arkansas and the wealth of knowledge is offer current students.
