UA Little Rock Leader – George Burks

Why UA Little Rock?

Enrolling at UA Little Rock was an easy decision for me. I was very eager to become a part of the Little Rock community and be a part of the university. Since I didn’t know a lot of people in Little Rock, attending college there was the best way to meet more people and transition my life from a small town to a bigger city.

I always knew that I would be in sales and I desired to be a sales leader after college. I worked on my father’s construction crew in the morning, attended class in the afternoon, and sold suits at Bachrach Menswear in the evenings.  It didn’t take long for me to know that selling was my path to a career instead of a job. The marketing and sales professors and classes at UA Little Rock prepared me to begin my journey after college.

UA Little Rock afforded me a great opportunity to blend classroom theory with real world experience.  I was able to see some of the theory come to life in my job and with some of the project work we were assigned.  The relationships and business connections made through the university are still with me today and I am always proud to represent UA Little Rock.

Affordable and relevant, a great metropolitan university is critical to the infrastructure of a vibrant city. It also requires a strong alumni association that’s engaged in civic and business leadership throughout the Capital City. UA Little Rock boasts both – with a shared vision for the future. As UA Little Rock celebrates the success of its alumni, the university and alumni reflect on the role the institution plays in the continued economic development of Central Arkansas and the wealth of knowledge is offer current students.
