Why UA Little Rock?
“I moved to Little Rock to begin my career with the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, where I created programming and networking opportunities for minorities and woman-owned businesses. That is also where I was able to establish the foundation for some formidable relationships. In 2009, I joined the start-up management team at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. I was promoted and decided to apply for the MBA program at UA Little Rock in 2010.
Since my plan was ultimately to pursue entrepreneurship, I placed a huge priority on expanding my network by connecting with the students as well as the UA Little Rock staff and professors. I was very intentional about building relationships. The UA Little Rock education provided the runway necessary to pivot careers and launch my business in 2012, all while reducing the learning curve associated with embarking upon new territory.
As a local business owner, I am a huge proponent for a vibrant and thriving community. UA Little Rock has served as a beacon of educational and economic hope since the institution’s inception. UA Little Rock continues to serve as a source of talent for the workforce, and I have had the opportunity to participate in events and programs to help prepare students for life after the classroom. I’ve even recruited students from UA Little Rock as interns within my agency.”
Affordable and relevant, a great metropolitan university is critical to the infrastructure of a vibrant city. It also requires a strong alumni association that’s engaged in civic and business leadership throughout the capital city. UA Little Rock boasts both – with a shared vision for the future. As UA Little Rock celebrates the success of its alumni, the university and alumni reflect on the role the institution plays in the continued economic development of Central Arkansas and the wealth of knowledge it offers current students.
