Why UA Little Rock?

I knew I would need to work my way through college. UA Little Rock offered me the opportunity to be a nontraditional student while still having access to the full college experience. I was able to take the knowledge that I learned in the classroom and apply to my developing career while also participating in campus activities and clubs. I am a storyteller and have always enjoyed writing and sharing information that helps people see the commonality within humanity. It was during this time that I joined my beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and gained friendships and network connections that have benefitted me throughout my personal and professional life.

Attending a metropolitan university allowed me to see how the academic and professional worlds intersect with the community. My professors at UA Little Rock taught me how to be curious about social issues and awakened in me a desire to better understand the challenges we face in our state. My undergraduate degree helped develop community partnerships, which I in my role with Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation. It expanded my ability to communicate with people from all walks of life. That versatility serves me well as I moved from the corporate sector into the nonprofit sphere, where connecting resources to public need is vital for creating social impact.

Affordable and relevant, a great metropolitan university is critical to the infrastructure of a vibrant city. It also requires a strong alumni association that’s engaged in civic and business leadership throughout the Capital City. UA Little Rock boasts both – with a shared vision for the future. As UA Little Rock celebrates the success of its alumni, the university and alumni reflect on the role the institution plays in the continued economic development of Central Arkansas and the wealth of knowledge is offer current students.
