CITY YEAR: MLK Community Service Projects

City Year encourages the community to join its AmeriCorps members for rescheduled MLK Day of Service projects this Saturday, January 27. The volunteer opportunities in Little Rock and Mabelvale will include painting, cleaning, collecting contributions and packaging kits. The projects will benefit students and families at two of the nonprofit’s partner schools, Jacksonville Elementary and Mabelvale Middle.

WHAT:  City Year’s Community Service Projects

WHEN:  Saturday, January 27 from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

WHERE: City Year Office (800 W. Markham St.) and Mabelvale Middle School (10811 Mabelvale West Road)

Individuals interested in donating are encouraged to bring new or used board, video and card games or gaming systems to City Year’s office. They may bring feminine hygiene products to Mabelvale Middle School. Sponsors include Starbucks and Unity Health for Jacksonville’s project and City Year alums, in partnership with the Arkansas Period Poverty Project for Mabelvale.

About City Year Little Rock: City Year Little Rock has served Central Arkansas since 2004. During 2023-2024, AmeriCorps Members are full-time tutors and mentors in the Little Rock School District (Chicot Elementary, Cloverdale Middle, J.A. Fair K – 8 Preparatory Academy, Mabelvale Middle and Stephens Elementary) and Jacksonville North Pulaski School District (Jacksonville Elementary School).
