The rich history of the Junior League of Little Rock is a reflection of generations of women devoted to building a stronger, more equitable community. Members are united in this vision – preserving the past with a finite focus on the future. President Tabitha McNulty is proud to celebrate a century of service and the continued mission fulfillment work that improves the lives of women and children.
Like many members, Tabitha was introduced to Junior League of Little Rock through friends. She moved to Little Rock to attend law school and wasn’t sure it would be home until she had children. “As I learned about the history, impact and dynamic membership of Junior League of Little Rock, I knew it was an organization that would allow me to feel an ownership in the city.” Tabitha continues, “I was excited by the opportunity to volunteer with an organization that aligned with my professional work as an attorney and my personal values.”
Tabitha recognizes the training of effective volunteers is a unique resource that Junior League of Little Rock offers members. “There are a multitude of projects throughout the years that illustrate the evolution of the mission and the ability to meet the needs of the community. One constant has always been our training. We are committed to training our members and that means we cultivate effective volunteers who improve the community.”
Junior League of Little Rock landmarks throughout the Capital City are impressive and serve as powerful reminders of the organization’s legacy of impact. With a portfolio of more than 70 projects and initiatives, Tabitha guarantees most residents would recognize nostalgic landmarks and not realize the Junior League of Little Rock role in promoting and preserving them. “Riverfest is a favorite project for many of our past members along with the Museum of Discovery,” she admits. “However, our Scott Street building is our most visible commitment to the city. The Junior League of Little Rock Nonprofit Center is in the building and hosts a variety of nonprofit organizations.”
Tabitha notes a critical component of the organization’s sustainability and relevance is a culture of communication built on respect, transparency and knowledge-sharing. Since its inception, Junior League of Little Rock has embraced a membership of women with diverse backgrounds, interests and professional pursuits. “The league is made up of so many dynamic women working together for a common cause. I am completely in awe and overwhelmed by the time and talents members share with the community at large.”
