Arvest Bank’s 1 Million Meals Campaign Kicks Off 8th Year

Guest blog by Arvest Bank

Arvest Bank is kicking off their 8th year of the 1 Million Meals initiative and wants you to get involved!

The 1 Million Meals program is a two-month campaign that challenges Arvest associates, customers and the general public to donate non-perishable food and raise money to fight hunger in their local community. The goal of the initiative is to collect the equivalent of one million meals that will be donated to local food pantries and other hunger relief organizations or programs. All donations remain local, here in central Arkansas, and will benefit the Arkansas Foodbank.

Launched in 2011, Arvest’s 1 Million Meals campaign has raised a seven-year total of 11,485,468 meals, which includes more than $2 million in funds given directly to the bank’s dozens of local food partners. This year’s fight against hunger kicked off April 2 and runs through June 2.

“Food insecurity is a problem that affects every community across America and it is an issue that needs our attention,” said Jim Cargill, president of Arvest Bank in central Arkansas. “It is important that we respond as a community to raise awareness and share our resources with those who don’t have food for every meal.”

How you can help:

Give a dollar: With just $1.00, about five meals can be provided to a family through a local food bank. Stop by any Arvest location to give a dollar to the cause!

Give food items: Arvest is holding in-branch fundraisers and nonperishable food drives to help associates and customers reach the goal of one million meals. Community members can contribute to the initiative by dropping off food items at any Arvest branch.

Spread the word: Arkansas ranks 5th among the most food-insecure states in the nation, based on average rates from 2014-2016. Spread the word to your friends and family, and make sure they know how easy it is to give to the 1 Million Meals campaign!

Arvest is thrilled to be able raise awareness and funds – thanks to the hard work and generosity of our associates, customers and community members – for our neighbors in need. We also hope 1 Million Meals increases hunger awareness, and we remain committed to fighting hunger in our community through this campaign and long after this year’s initiative has ended. Stop by any Arvest branch and help us reach our goal of 1 Million Meals today!
