The Kitchen | Fields Table Tour: The Southern Gourmasian

Guest Blog by Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board

The Kitchen | Fields Table Tour concludes this season’s tour with its last feature restaurant partner: The Southern Gourmasian. Formerly a must-eat food truck around town, The Southern Gourmasian is now serving Arkansans at their Capitol Avenue location in downtown Little Rock. Executive Chef Justin Patterson’s menu showcases Asian cuisine with a Southern twist.

The Southern Gourmasian will feature Justin’s soybean-inspired dish for the Kitchen | Fields Table Tour – Thai chicken burger with edamame hummus, pickled red onions and sweet potato chips – throughout the month of June. Through this appetizing dish, Arkansans can enjoy a true local experience: where their food comes from and the impact they have on the industry by consuming soy products, which in turn supports local soybean farmers.

As you can see, one of the most common soybean products, edamame, were used in preparing the hummus, but chicken also plays an important role in the soybean industry. Every year, chickens consume protein-rich animal feed, which is provided through soybean meal, because it contributes to their growth and healthy development. Justin says,“Being a restaurant partner in the Kitchen | Fields Table Tour allows us to educate Arkansans about the soybean industry through our feature dish. This program identifies with our culinary approach of incorporating Asian-inspired flavors into popular southern dishes.”

Come out and support your local Arkansas soybean farmers through this feature dish at The Southern Gourmasian. Don’t forget to take a photo and use the hashtag #ARSoySupper!
