Arkansas has the highest adult obesity rate among all 50 states, according to a study on obesity from the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. According to the study: “Arkansas’s adult obesity rate is currently 35.9 percent, up from 21.9 percent in 2000 and from 17.0 percent in 1995.” Our kids aged 10 to 17 are 20% obese in Arkansas, as are 41.7% of adults aged 45-64. More than a third of Arkansans are overweight and one third are obese. For the first time in our nation’s history, obese children and teens are developing chronic diseases formerly seen only in adults. Obesity has been connected with high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and some cancers.
I had the pleasure of visiting with Drew Files, owner of The Nutrition Hub, with some of the Inviting Arkansas ladies. So what’s with all the hype, you ask? The Nutrition Hub provides a variety of drinks along with free wellness tests at their new location in West Little Rock. The Nutrition Hub also takes dietary restrictions into consideration, offering gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. The team takes a different approach than most fitness clubs around Little Rock – offering a tea bar with meal replacement protein shakes and aloe in flavors like mango and cranberry, all of which are part of the Herbalife products.

Four step menu:
Step 1 – pick your Aloe from two flavor options
Step 2 – you have the option of eight flavors of hydrating tea
Step 3 – add energy, choosing from four different options
Step 4 – (My favorite!) pick a shake with 20 + amazing flavors to choose from!!!
Not only is The Nutrition Hub trying to attract business with their selection of drinks, but they hope to encourage health and overall fitness around Central Arkansas.
