AR COMMITTEE OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF WOMEN IN THE ARTS: Women to Watch

October 11, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Arkansas Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts for Women to Watch: Heavy Metal! Organized by the Arkansas Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts (ACNMWA), the Women to Watch: Heavy Metal exhibit includes a wide range of approaches to metal work by Michele Cottler-Fox, Amanda Heinbockel, Robyn Horn and Holly Laws.  The exhibit includes photographs of the artists working in their studios, and individual artist statements that give insight into the artists’ techniques and ways of working. Full color brochures accompany the viewing experience.

The Women to Watch exhibit program was developed by the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) to feature underrepresented and emerging women artists from the states and countries in which the museum has outreach committees. National museum curators selected two installations by Holly Laws for the exhibit at the museum in Washington, DC—Three Eastern Bluebirds and Placeholder. Selections for the national competitive are submitted by arts professionals invited by ACNMWA to guest curate. Matthew Smith of the University of Central Arkansas served as guest curator for the 2019 exhibition.
