OPERA IN THE ROCK: Madama Butterfly at The Rep; A Live Streaming Event

 Opera In The Rock, the only Opera America Professional Company in Arkansas, is pleased to present a streaming version of their “triumphant” (Arkansas Times) 2019 production of Giacomo Puccini’s beloved work Madama Butterfly. Beginning on Friday, June 12th, 7:00 pm and available through Sunday, June 14th, 11:59 pm, this recording will be available to stream on YouTube as well as the OITR website. Additionally, a special live streaming event will take place the evening of Friday June 12^th featuring special guests.

Madama Butterfly is a tragic tale of love, loss, and betrayal set in 1904 in Nagasaki, Japan. Pinkerton, a U.S. naval officer, rents a house on a hill for himself and his soon-to-be bride, the 15-year-old geisha Cio-Cio San, also known as “Butterfly.” Bound to be a brief marriage of convenience for Pinkerton, love and heartbreak ensue for the young geisha.
