Easter Seals Arkansas’ young professionals group, The Guardians, are hosting Fireworks Frenzy on July 4th, where Little Rockers can watch the downtown fireworks display from the Grand Ballroom terrace of the Little Rock Marriott. Attendees will enjoy seated views, snacks, a DJ and a cash bar with proceeds benefitting Easter Seals Arkansas.
Kimberly Shaw, a member of the Guardians’ Board, has a close connection to Easter Seals. In 2013, Kimberly delivered twins a day shy of thirty-two weeks with Fisher weighing two pounds ten ounces and Turner at two pounds fifteen ounces. After receiving a referral, Kimberly called Easter Seals for help with her medically fragile babies. A team of Easter Seals therapists came to the Shaw’s home to evaluate the twins and provide life-changing therapy. “The therapists helped me understand where the boys were a bit behind and shared with me and my husband Chris what they were working on to get them up to speed.”
At six months old, the Shaws enrolled the twins at Easter Seals Little Rock developmental preschool where the therapy continues. Today, both boys have tested out of physical therapy and are continuing to meet developmental milestones.
Kimberly was so excited to hear about The Guardians and to be a part of raising awareness and funds for Easter Seals. “For someone who wants to volunteer, spending time with an adult with special needs or volunteering at the preschool will really open your heart to some wonderful life moments,” says Kimberly.
