Written in the Stars

The Arkansas Children’s Hospital Auxiliary reflects a legacy of women committed to the hospital’s mission and determined to generate additional support for the renowned care it provides. As the auxiliary celebrates 50 years of service, its membership – now 500 women strong – is comprised of female civic leadership as diverse as its portfolio of programming that continues to generate funding for the organization.

Riverfest – Celebrating 40 Years of Fun

As Riverfest enjoys four decades of live music and community service along the banks of the Arkansas River, it’s the quality entertainment and consistent leadership that continue to exceed expectations year after year. During its tenure only three outstanding individuals have served as executive director – a testament to the steadfast commitment of not only the volunteers, but also the professional stature of the organization.

Classical Music, Casual Fun

With a tenure that spans two decades, the Hot Springs Music Festival welcomes more than 100 international musicians to the Spa City for an eclectic series of performances, open rehearsals and national radio broadcasts. Associate Director Lynn Payette promises this year’s festival – with its signature international flare and local charm – will not disappoint.

Heifer Urban Farm Fest

There aren’t many Capital City fundraisers that actually encourage guests to wear sneakers and casual attire. Farm animals typically aren’t a part of the program either, but when Heifer International is involved, these things aren’t as surprising. Amanda Seevers invites patrons to join the fun at the inaugural Heifer Urban Farm Fest and experience the wonder of the garden at the organization’s global headquarters.

Television that Inspires and Informs

Arkansas Educational Television Network’s new executive director comes full circle as she returns to public television. Courtney Pledger began her career in television as an intern with a public television station. She’s worked in the film and television industry – nationally and internationally – for more than 30 years, and admits she has always been drawn to public media. As a result, she recognizes the transformative power of local and national public programming and the important role it plays in our collective knowledge.
